I’ve been talking a lot about my debut novel Collapse being part of the Kindle Scout program, so I should probably explain what exactly that is.
My friends over at the Word Nerds on YouTube asked me to make a guest video talking about the program, and in particular, how it’s a great way for readers to get free books and for writers to earn a publishing contract with Amazon’s Kindle Press imprint.
I love the idea of reader’s being involved with the publishing process, because as a reader and YouTube book reviewer, I know how frustrating it can be when publisher’s are chasing trends and the the next big hit when all they’d have to do is ask us readers what we’re looking for.
As soon as I heard about the program, I knew it was the perfect outlet for Collapse. I love the fact that everyone who nominates the book during the campaign will get it for free if it’s selected for a publishing contract, because I was already planning on giving free copies of the book to my friends who inspired the book, and my youtube reviewer friends as ARCs. And I can’t tell you how excited I am to publish after getting so many emails from total strangers who saw my campaign and reached out to tell me that they loved the cover, blurb, and can’t wait to read it. There’s nothing like that kind of feedback to get me excited to write the free prequel novella and book 2.
